Mevis & Van Deursen

Having met as art students at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, Armand Mevis and Linda Van Deursen set up a graphic design studio after graduating. As Mevis & Van Deursen, they have since combined cultural commissions from the Stedelijk Museum of Modern Art and Muziektheater, both in Amsterdam, with public sector projects such as stamps for the Dutch Post Office. Diversity is a central theme in Mevis & Van Deursen's work. When devising an identity for Rotterdam as European Capital of Culture in 2001, they rejected the conventional solution of choosing a particular symbol in favor of celebrating the eclecticism of the city in multiple combinations of circles, squares and other symbols.
