Front was founded in Stockholm in 2004 by industrial designers (MA) Sofia Lagerkvist, Charlotte von der Lancken, Anna Lindgren and Katja Sävström. Their works are based on common discussions about and investigations of different topics. The final products often communicate a story about the design process, about conventions within the product field or about the material it is made of.

They showed their first furniture collection - made in collaboration with gerbils, flies, dogs, insects and rabbits - at the Salone Satellite in Milan in 2004. Front exhibited at Droog Amsterdam in 2005 and in 2008 they showed their project "Sketch Furniture" at MoMA in New York. Later that year, they were invited to participate at Swarovski Crystal Palace in Milan.
