Droog at home is our homebase at Staalstraat 7a/b in Amsterdam; a historic three-storeyed building dating from 1641, when the 'Staalmeesters' used it for sampling the products of the textile industry. Droog moved into the building in 2004, opening a flagship store on the ground floor and using the first and second floor (attic) as office space. In a way, it is again a place for sampling, with the visitors of the flagship store critically sampling our design
mentality and products.The wild colours are not of ancient origin though. It is the artist Franck Bragigand who took on the paint job on invitation of Droog. Layer on layer, tone to tone and with an estrangening composition, he created a specific colour experience for every room. In the attic we find ourselves working in a blue or green room, the first floor provides in a red or lilac environment, a big yellow working space or orange energy room.
