Sarah Dorkenwald & Ruth Spitzer

Designers and artists, Sarah Dorkenwald and Ruth Spitzer recurrently centers on an interest in conceptualizing the properties of conditions of mobility, adaptation, and transformation. Dorkenwald-Spitzer continue to exhibit internationally and were awarded an honourable mention by I.D. Design Review 2007.

When they started in 2002 they conceptualized there most established product “Wallfurniture, launched in Milano at the Salone Satelite 2004, which has received internationally reputation. In 2005 they won the Droog Design T-shirt competition with their “Tallest Man” design. Most recently they presented “Trans edition” emerged within the exhibition "Radiant Dark" by MADE Design 2008. As an upcycling process they reused paper and packaging materials to explore textures and forms and to create new kind of interior paper objects, the exhibition venue also became laboratory and studio space.

As a Canadian-German based design company dorkenwald-spitzer creates products in relation to the given situation such as observed scenarios.
In an experimental process that concentrates more on the logical sequence of mutually conditional decisions than on preconceived planning,
their methods range from do-it-yourself strategies to the fabrication of artifacts that contribute to a new experience.

Playfully, they stretch the sense of imagination and creativity to see and use things differently.
