Droog T-shirt competition

date:  29 September 2005
location:  Droog at home

Droog usually approaches a specific designer for an assignment, but with the Droog T-shirt competition we wanted to give every designer a chance. Everyobe could send in a concept for a short-sleeve T-shirt made of cotton. The winners of this competition were Sarah Dorkenwald & Ruth Spitzer with their T-shirt ‘The tallest man’.

We were delighted with the large number of entries; no less than 354 contributions were sent in from over fourty countries. The most elaborated ideas Droog received were: showing body organs; using existing Droog products; personalisation (e.g. embroidery, drawing on the T-shirt, dot-to-dot); fold-lines and cut-lines; communicating the size of the T-shirt; using ties; highlighting or celebrating stains, and; disguising armpit sweat. We thank all designers who took part in the competition and we very much appreciate everyone’s efforts.

The jury of the Droog T-shirt competition, composed of Droog directors Renny Ramakers and Gijs Bakker, and sales manager Mariëlle Janmaat, selected the following ten best T-shirts:
