Description
The cups originate from a project by the French 5.5 designers and the workers of porcelain manufacturer Bernardaud. Together they intervened in the standardized porcelain making process. Form, function and decoration were disturbed and personal creativity was brought in by the workers.Specifications

5.5 designers is a design studio started up in 2003 by Vincent Baranger, Jean-Sébastien Blanc, Anthony Lebossé, and Claire Renard. Their first project, Réanim, which gave birth to the object medicine, had a strong impact in the design scene. Far from focusing only on shaping objects, the 5.5 designers force themselves to a conceptual rigour and a permanent questioning on what their designer status is. Therefore, they are standing in each of their creation for honest and accessible consumption alternatives, which imply a truly will to sublimate the ordinary. Because of this approach, tinted with humour and simplicity, brands and editors, from luxury to mainstream ones, (Baccarat, LaCie, Oberflex, Bernardaud, Centre Pompidou, SABZ, La Corbeille...) ask them to design products and sceneries for their spaces. This type of responsible and optimistic design has reached, in five years time, a large panel of national and international institutions which have either exhibited or acquired their creations. The city council of Paris awarded them with the “Grand prix de la Création” for the whole of their work.
