The work explores the principle of anamorphosis: an optical technique in which a distorted image becomes readable only when viewed from a specific angle or through reflection.
The design features porcelain platters adorned with seemingly abstract, elongated drawings. When a reflective object is placed at the centre of the platter, the distorted imagery is visually corrected in the reflection, revealing delicate illustrations of birds and other precious motifs. What initially appears fragmented and unclear is transformed into a coherent image through interaction and careful positioning.
By combining craft, illusion, and perception, Anamorphosis invites us to actively participate in the act of seeing. The project was presented as part of Droog’s exhibition at Milan Design Week in 2009, where it stood out for its poetic interplay between object, image, and viewer.
