Droog Wearables Project
In 2009, Droog introduced the “Droog Wearables” project, a curated collection that reimagined fashion as a medium for storytelling and conceptual exploration. Unveiled at Droog at Home in Amsterdam, the exhibition featured five mannequins painted by artist Franck Bragigand, each adorned with limited-edition pieces that challenged traditional notions of clothing and adornment.
The collection included:
– Gluejeans by Gerrit Uittenbogaard: A reinterpretation of denim, emphasising construction and form.
– Knitted Boots by BLESS: Footwear that blurs the line between garment and accessory, showcasing innovative textile techniques.
– Floral Shower by Mina Wu: A piece that merges fashion with environmental elements, creating a dynamic interaction between the wearer and the surroundings.
– Bound by Blood by Katja Prins for Chi ha paura…?: Jewellery that delves into themes of human connection and the body, reflecting on the intimate relationship between adornment and identity.
This project exemplifies Droog’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of design, encouraging audiences to view wearables not just as functional items but as platforms for artistic and conceptual expression.
