Boxed bowl, lunch & ring by Joost Grootens

Joost Grootens chose to explore the border between the box as an object and as packaging. In the end he preferred not to choose at all. Here is what he did: he made birch plywood boxes that add functionality to the objects they contain.

His ‘boxed lunch’ is as straightforward as can be. But the other two specimens have a function that is confusingly identical to that of the object inside. You get two similar and complementary but different objects: the ‘boxed bowl’ and the ‘boxed ring’.
