Droog Stamp by …,staat (ANDSTAAT)

In December 2006, Tejo Remy’s Milk Bottle Lamp found a new way to travel: on a postage stamp. The design was selected for TNT Post’s 10 voor Nederland series, joining Dutch favourites such as the Bugaboo pushchair, Heineken’s longneck bottle, and the tulip.

Amsterdam creative agency …,staat translated these familiar objects into bold, simplified illustrations set against Dutch landscapes. Bright colours and connected compositions brought the ten stamps together, creating a small collection of everyday Dutch ingenuity.

Originally designed in 1991, Remy’s lamp turns twelve milk bottles into a hanging light. Arranged in three rows of four, the bottles recall the milk crates once delivered to Dutch doorsteps. Its appearance on the stamp carried this familiar Droog design from the home onto envelopes across the country.

The €0.44 stamps were issued on 11 December 2006 in preparation for the Netherlands’ 2007 postal rates.
