Rapid Manufacturing

Rapid Manufacturing features the work of French designer Patrick Jouin. Droog flagship store shows Jouin’s latest innovation the OneShot. It’s the first time this unique one piece, folding stool is presented in the Netherlands. This revolutionary design made by Rapid Prototyping is fabricated without any assembly of parts.

In cooperation with l’antenne de La Haye – Institut Français des Pays-Bas and the Premsela Foundation for Dutch Design, Droog hosts a seminar discussing the possibilities and impossibilities of Rapid Manufacturing for design practice.

Seminar on technology and freedom
Droog hosts a Rapid Manufacturing seminar on September 11th, organised within the framework of the Patrick Jouin exhibition. A panel discussion with Naomi Kampfer, Patrick Jouin, Janne Kytaanen and moderator Gijs Bakker.

The seminar consists of short introductions followed by a panel discussion with several professionals. Here they will put forward their points of view, questioning and scrutinising if Rapid Manufacturing’s development is as revolutionary as it claims to be. What is the influence of this technique creating this kind of freedom, and do designers want this freedom? Furthermore, the social and cultural consequences of rapid manufacturing, future developments and (im)possibilities were discussed.
