Four Turns Right, One Turn Left

With kaleidoscopic eyes, the eight films encompassing this section look at the world, twisting, tweaking, reversing, turning it inside out, and making it anew to play with the benign platitude, the remarkable boredom of post-industrial society. Blasé and camp, in search of meaning or refusing any at all, these films enchant the real with acute lucidity and trickery.

Length Program: 1 hour and 19 minutes of screening and 30 minutes of Q&A with filmmakers

Disclaimer: Once the first movie starts we don’t allow you to enter the cinema room, so be on time!

The Amsterdam Student Film Festival (AmsFF) began in 2022 as an initiative by a group of students with the desire to create a space where student filmmakers could meet, connect, and showcase their work. The festival focuses on experimental, non-commercial films by emerging makers, offering students a professional platform to present their work on the big screen while fostering an inclusive and supportive creative community.

Now entering our 2026 edition, AmsFF continues to grow while remaining a student-driven initiative, organized entirely by a team of volunteer students. The festival will take place May 29th to 31st across five independent Amsterdam venues: FC Hyena, De Uitkijk, Het Documentaire Paviljoen, LAB111 and Droog. As in previous years, a jury of diverse film industry professionals will work to screen the short films and provide feedback for the filmmakers. Audience members will also be able to interact with the filmmakers at select screenings.  We are expanding the festival beyond screenings to include workshops, Q&As, and several networking events.

Stay tuned for updates, tickets will be available soon…
