Girls in Film Amsterdam and the O’Guluva foundation are pleased to welcome you on the 27th of September to our first Fundraiser Event aimed at supporting the foundational base of O’Guluva and launching the first artist exchange cycle.
The afternoon will consist of a South African film screening and discussion programme hosted at Droog in Amsterdam. Followed by music and drinks for a chance of networking! Throughout the event we would like to encourage you to donate to the fundraiser to help build the O’Guluva community!
Following the success of O’Guluva’s first Pop-Up Screening in Nijmegen, this event aims to continue building a platform for South African filmmakers to share their work internationally while creating meaningful cultural exchange between South Africa and the Netherlands.

About O’Guluva
O’Guluva is a South African rooted, Netherlands based creative collective responding to the collapse of creative infrastructure in South Africa and the ongoing extraction of South African culture abroad without meaningful return.
The initiative works to create opportunities for South African artists to travel, screen work internationally, build networks, learn from other ecosystems, and reinvest those experiences back into local creative communities at home.
Rather than operating through purely institutional models, O’Guluva focuses on community-supported systems built through collaboration, solidarity, skill-sharing, and cultural exchange.

GIF Amsterdam is part of a global community and platform with branches across the world, which aims to support female, non binary and trans creatives! The Amsterdam branch had been on a hiatus for a couple of years, but is once again active!
