Glass Tap by Arnout Visser

Glass Tap, 1997
An experimental faucet designed by Dutch designer Arnout Visser in 1997. At first glance, it presents itself as a sleek glass spout. Still, Visser imbues it with a subtle yet striking interactive quality: it uses coloured light to make visible the temperature of the water flowing through it. Warm water causes the unit to glow red; cold water causes it to glow blue.
The glass components serve both aesthetic and functional roles: revealing the internal process — hot vs cold water and turning it into a piece of poetic idea. This aligns with Visser’s interest in scientific and physical phenomena implemented into design.
