At first sight, the table looks solid and simple, but up close, an entire world of carved details begins to appear across its surface. Inspired by an Indonesian fairy tale, the table is covered with intricate hand-carved scenes and patterns that run along the legs, sides, and tabletop.

It is common to have things produced in Asia to achieve low-cost mass production, whereas this project is based on the high level of craftsmanship in this part of the world. Every detail was made by skilled artisans in Indonesia — a level of detailed hand carving that has become rare in the West.

With this project, the designers wanted to highlight the value of handmade work in a world increasingly focused on mass production. Rather than using carving as decoration alone, the table tells a story through its surface, inviting people to slow down, look closely, and discover something new every time.

Godogan Table is a piece of furniture that feels both contemporary and deeply connected to tradition.
