Inside-out Furniture, 2012
Inside-out furniture is a conceptual furniture series developed for Droog that rethinks conventional furniture construction by turning it literally inside out. Instead of concealing joints and connectors, the series places brackets and structural elements on the exterior, making the process of assembly visible and integral to the design. Inspired by the functional clarity of modernist furniture, the project emphasises honesty, simplicity, and accessibility.
Using standard wooden elements combined with custom connectors, Inside-out furniture highlights how furniture is made and encourages a more transparent relationship between object, maker, and user, reflecting Droog’s ongoing interest in experimental, open, and thought-provoking design.
