At first glance, the piece appears to be a simple chair, but when activated, inflatable companion-like forms emerge from its structure, surrounding the seated user. These soft, air-filled “pets” introduce a sense of presence and playful intimacy, turning an ordinary act of sitting into a moment of unexpected interaction.

By combining humour with subtle social commentary, Pump It Up reflects on solitude, imagination, and the human need for companionship. Rather than practically solving loneliness, the design embraces fantasy and exaggeration, suggesting that even temporary or artificial forms of company can reshape how we experience personal space.
