Sur la Table by Osman Khan

Sur la Table, 2007
Created by Osman Khan for Droog’s Smart Deco II exhibition, Sur la Table turned an ordinary dining table into a playful interactive experience. Using projection and digital technology, the table reacted to the movements of people, plates, glasses, and food in real time.
As guests ate and moved things around, colours, shadows, and flowing shapes appeared across the table surface, transforming a simple meal into something lively and unexpected. Everyday actions suddenly became part of a constantly changing visual composition.
Playful, social, and a little surreal, Sur la Table was less about the table itself and more about the experience created around it. The project encouraged people to interact, experiment, and enjoy the moment together — turning dinner into a shared performance full of movement, humour, and surprise.
Sur la Table is part of the Smart Deco II project and exhibition presented during Milan Design Week in 2007 by Droog Design.
