small wedding venue amsterdam canal house private room 30 guests dinner included

a small wedding in amsterdam, done beautifully

You don’t need a ballroom for a wedding that feels special. Some of the most memorable ceremonies happen around a single long table, with the right food, the right people, and a room that actually means something. If you’re planning a small wedding in Amsterdam and want a private space with dinner included, you’re in the right place.

@droog is a design-led venue on the Staalstraat in Amsterdam. It’s rooted in Droog Design philosophy, which means everything here is intentional. The spaces, the details, the atmosphere. Nothing is generic. And for a small, intimate wedding, that matters more than you might think.

the room made for it: the library

When it comes to hosting a private wedding dinner for up to 30 guests, the library is the natural starting point. It’s an upstairs room with windows overlooking the garden, beautiful yellow chairs, and a long table that anchors the space. The flowered wallpaper, inspired by a painting from the Rijksmuseum, gives the room a warmth that’s hard to find in a typical event space.

The library seats up to 10 people around the table in its standard setup. For a slightly larger group, we work with you to figure out the best configuration. It’s a room that feels private because it is. Once you’re in there, it’s yours.

more guests? more space.

If your guest list goes beyond 10 and up to 30 people, we don’t just squeeze everyone in. We open up the right combination of rooms to give your wedding dinner the space and flow it deserves. Events at @droog are never limited to a single room.

For example, you might use the library for a more intimate cocktail hour or gift table, and move your dinner into the white space. This upstairs room fits up to 50 people seated with tables, has large white windows looking out over the Amsterdam canal houses and the garden, and carries a calm, elegant atmosphere. For a group of 20 to 30 people at a seated dinner, it feels generous without feeling empty.

Another option worth considering is the cafe. Located at the top of the yellow hallway staircase, this is arguably the most beautiful room in the building. Think a blue butterfly lamp, a curved white tiled bar, a fireplace, and tall windows. It seats up to 70 and fits 180 standing, but with 30 guests at a private dinner, it becomes something really special. Bright, cosy, and completely yours for the evening.

dinner included: what that means at @droog

Food at @droog isn’t an afterthought. The cafe restaurant is open to the public every day for lunch and coffee, which tells you something about how seriously we take what comes out of the kitchen. When you book a private dinner as part of your wedding, the food is part of the experience, not just fuel for the evening.

We work with local suppliers and prioritize seasonal, sustainable ingredients wherever possible. That’s not a marketing line. It’s how the building was built and how we operate. For your wedding dinner, we’ll put together a menu that fits your group, your preferences, and the atmosphere you’re after.

a canal house with actual character

There are plenty of event spaces in Amsterdam that call themselves a canal house. @droog genuinely is one. The building sits in the heart of the city, with views of the Groenburgwal canal from the cafe and the garden running alongside the ground floor. It has the bones of a historic Amsterdam building, but the interior tells a different story, one shaped by decades of design thinking and carefully chosen objects.

When your guests walk in, they’ll notice. The gallery at the entrance, the yellow staircase, the rooms that each have their own identity. It creates a sense of occasion without needing anything extra. That’s rare in a city where a lot of venues look the same.

what makes a small wedding work

Small weddings work when the setting supports the intimacy, not fights against it. A room that’s too big makes 25 people feel like a crowd that didn’t show up. A room that’s designed for larger events never quite settles into something cosy. The spaces at @droog are sized and styled in a way that works naturally for smaller groups.

A few things that matter for a wedding dinner of up to 30 guests:

  • A private room, not a partitioned section of a larger space
  • Food and drink that’s part of the experience, not just catering
  • A location that means something, not just a postcode
  • A team that understands what you’re trying to create

All of that is available here. And because @droog works primarily with B2B events, your wedding dinner gets the same level of attention and care as any other event we host. We think about the why behind every decision, including yours.

practical things you’ll want to know

Capacity for a seated dinner with up to 30 guests can be accommodated across different room combinations depending on what you need. The library is ideal for the smallest and most private setups. The white space and the cafe work well for slightly larger groups while keeping the evening feeling personal.

If your day involves more than just dinner, that’s fine too. @droog can accommodate a ceremony, a drinks reception, and a sit-down dinner across different spaces in the building. The grand space on the ground floor, for instance, opens directly onto the garden and works well for drinks and mingling before you move upstairs. The red space, our theatre room, is a completely different experience, bold, intimate, and unlike anything else in Amsterdam.

We’re happy to walk you through the options and help you figure out what works. No two weddings here are the same, and that’s kind of the point.

ready to plan your wedding dinner?

If you’re looking for a small wedding venue in Amsterdam with a private room, dinner included, and a canal house setting that actually delivers on what it promises, @droog is worth a conversation. We’ll help you find the right combination of spaces and put together something that fits your guest list, your taste, and the day you’re imagining.

intimate wedding ceremony and reception amsterdam city center waterfront venue 25 to 30 people

an intimate wedding in the heart of amsterdam

You want something small. Meaningful. A wedding that actually feels like you, not a generic banquet hall with 200 people you barely know. If you are planning an intimate wedding ceremony and reception in Amsterdam city center for around 25 to 30 people, you are probably looking for a space that has character, a real location, and something worth remembering.

That is exactly what @droog offers. A design-rooted venue on the Groenburgwal canal, right in the heart of Amsterdam’s historic center. A place where every room tells a story and every detail has been chosen with intention.

why small weddings deserve a big space decision

Choosing the right venue for a small wedding is arguably harder than planning a large one. With fewer guests, every element is magnified. The atmosphere, the light, the furniture, the view outside the window. There is nowhere to hide if the space feels off.

With 25 to 30 guests, you are in a beautiful position. Intimate enough to have real conversations, small enough that the ceremony feels personal, large enough to still feel like a celebration. The challenge is finding a venue that matches that energy without feeling too corporate, too empty, or too cookie-cutter.

@droog was built around design thinking. Nothing here was chosen by accident. And that makes a real difference when you are putting together something as personal as a wedding.

the spaces at @droog for your wedding day

@droog has several distinct rooms, each with its own personality. For a wedding of 25 to 30 people, a few of them are particularly well-suited, and you can always combine spaces to create a full-day flow.

ceremony in the white space
Upstairs, flooded with natural light from large white windows that look out onto old Amsterdam rooftops and the garden below, the white space is a genuinely beautiful setting for a ceremony. It seats up to 50 with tables or 70 in a theatre arrangement, but for 25 to 30 people it feels just right. Spacious enough to breathe, intimate enough to feel close. This room has been used for book launches, PhD promotions, and private celebrations. A wedding ceremony fits naturally here.

reception or dinner in the library
After the ceremony, the library is one of the most talked-about rooms in the building. Floral wallpaper inspired by a painting in the Rijksmuseum. Yellow chairs around a long table beneath a flat chandelier. Windows that look over the garden. This room seats up to 10 people at the table, making it ideal as a private dinner setting for the closest inner circle, or as a breakout space for gifts, signing the papers, or a quiet moment between the two of you.

drinks and celebration in the cafe
At the top of the yellow staircase you will find one of the most striking interiors in Amsterdam. The cafe restaurant is tall, bright, and full of design detail. The blue butterfly lamp. The curved white-tiled bar. The fireplace. A view directly onto the Groenburgwal canal. For 25 to 30 people, this space can be arranged as a standing reception, a seated dinner, or something in between. It fits up to 70 people seated and 180 standing, so for your group it feels generous without being overwhelming.

a waterfront setting in amsterdam city center

One of the reasons couples choose @droog for their wedding is the location. Sitting on the Groenburgwal in the old city center, the building looks out over one of Amsterdam’s most beautiful and quieter canals. The neighbourhood is calm, historic, and walkable. Guests arriving by bike, taxi, or boat all have a genuine Amsterdam experience just getting there.

The canal view from the cafe adds something that no indoor decoration can replicate. Natural water light. The reflection of old facades. The gentle sound of the city. For wedding photos, it is effortlessly good. For the atmosphere during dinner or drinks, it is something your guests will mention for years.

request quote

design thinking applied to your wedding day

@droog is rooted in Droog Design principles. That means intentionality in everything. The building itself was constructed with sustainability in mind. Local sourcing is prioritized wherever possible. The rooms are not just decorated, they are curated.

When you host your wedding here, you are not just renting a room. You are stepping into a space that has a clear point of view. One that challenges convention and invites people to think differently. For couples who care about meaning, about context, about the experience their guests leave with, that matters.

combining spaces for a full wedding experience

One of the practical strengths of @droog is flexibility. You are not locked into a single room. A typical flow for a 25 to 30 person wedding might look like this:

  • Ceremony in the white space upstairs, with natural light and a relaxed theatre setup
  • Drinks and mingling in the garden or in the grand space on the ground floor, which opens directly onto the garden
  • Dinner or reception in the cafe restaurant, with canal views and the full design experience
  • A private moment for the couple in the library, used as a quiet room between moments

Events at @droog are not limited to one room. If you need more space at any point in the day, rooms can be added. The team thinks in experiences, not just bookings.

what makes @droog different from other amsterdam wedding venues

There are plenty of beautiful venues in Amsterdam. Canal houses, rooftop terraces, converted warehouses. What makes @droog stand out is the combination of things that are hard to find together in one place.

A genuine design identity that is not just aesthetic but philosophical. A central waterfront location without the tourist-trap pricing that often comes with it. Rooms that each feel completely different from one another, giving your day real variety. A team that approaches events with a why, not just a how. And a building that has been built and maintained with sustainability as a real value, not a marketing claim.

For couples who want their wedding to feel like a considered decision rather than a default choice, @droog is a natural fit.

practical details worth knowing

@droog is located at Staalstraat 7b in Amsterdam, easily reachable from anywhere in the city center. The venue is available for private hire on selected dates throughout the year. Catering is handled through the in-house cafe restaurant, which means food and drink quality is built into the venue experience rather than outsourced to an unknown third party.

For a group of 25 to 30 people, setup and styling can be tailored to your preferences. The team is experienced in making spaces work for events that sit outside the standard formats, and a wedding is no exception.

If you are in the early stages of planning and want to know what is possible, the best next step is simply to get in touch and describe what you are imagining.

exclusive canal view wedding venue amsterdam centrum with catering for small group under 35 guests

a wedding venue in amsterdam centrum with a canal view, for just your people

Not every wedding needs a ballroom and 200 guests. Some of the most meaningful celebrations happen in small, intentional spaces, with the right people around you and a setting that actually says something. If you are looking for an exclusive canal view wedding venue in Amsterdam Centrum for a small group of under 35 guests, @droog might be exactly what you have been trying to find.

We are not a traditional wedding venue. We are a design-rooted space in the heart of Amsterdam, built around intentional experiences and sustainable thinking. That also happens to make us a pretty extraordinary place to get married.

what makes @droog different for intimate weddings

Most venues are built for volume. Larger crowds, standardised packages, rows of chairs that look the same regardless of who is celebrating. @droog works differently. Every space here is a design statement, not just a room. And when you are hosting under 35 people, that distinction matters enormously.

Small weddings deserve spaces that feel full of meaning, not half-empty. At @droog, our rooms are sized and styled in a way that makes an intimate gathering feel exactly right, never sparse, never oversized.

the library: the most intimate space for your wedding

For a group of up to 10 people at the table, the library is a genuinely special room. With its flowered wallpaper inspired by a painting from the Rijksmuseum, a long table beneath a flat chandelier, and beautiful yellow chairs, it carries a warmth that very few event spaces manage to achieve. The windows look out toward the garden, and the atmosphere is cosy, personal and quietly elegant.

It is an ideal space for a private wedding dinner. Small by design, not by compromise.

the cafe restaurant: canal view, design details, pure atmosphere

For slightly larger intimate weddings, up to 35 seated guests, the cafe restaurant is where the magic really happens. This is arguably our most beautiful space. Sitting at the top of our yellow hallway staircase, it opens up to a view over the Groenburgwal canal, one of Amsterdam’s most picturesque waterways in the heart of the Centrum.

Inside, the design details are extraordinary. The iconic blue butterfly lamp. A fireplace. A curved white tiled bar. The inside-out cafe concept. The space is tall, bright and classical, but also deeply cosy. It seats up to 70 depending on setup, which means for your group of under 35 the room breathes beautifully and never feels forced.

If you have been searching for that exclusive canal view setting in Amsterdam Centrum, this is it.

catering that fits the philosophy

Food at @droog is not an afterthought. Sustainability and local sourcing are core to how we operate, and that extends to what we put on the table. We work with local suppliers and prioritise ingredients that make sense for both the season and the story of the event.

For a wedding dinner of under 35 guests, this means something genuinely considered. Not a generic catering menu rolled out for every event, but food that fits your celebration, your group and the atmosphere of the space you are in. Whether you want a seated dinner in the cafe restaurant with canal views, or a more informal setup that moves between spaces, we can help shape something that works.

combining spaces for a full wedding experience

One of the things that sets @droog apart is the ability to combine rooms. Your wedding does not have to happen in one place. You might start with a ceremony in the white space, a beautiful upstairs room with large white windows looking out over old Amsterdam canal houses and the garden below. It holds up to 50 seated with tables and creates a genuinely memorable backdrop for exchanging vows.

From there, your guests could move through to the cafe restaurant for a seated canal-view dinner. Or gather in the library for a more intimate toast. The flow between spaces at @droog is natural, and the transitions themselves become part of the experience.

why amsterdam centrum is the right place for your wedding

Amsterdam Centrum is one of Europe’s most visually distinctive urban environments. The canal rings, the narrow gabled houses, the bridges, the light that falls differently depending on the season. Getting married here, in a space that actually looks out over a canal, is something guests remember for years.

@droog sits in this environment but adds a layer on top of it. The building itself reflects a commitment to sustainable design and construction. Nearly everything within the space has been thoughtfully selected with environmental responsibility in mind. So when your guests arrive, they are not just in a pretty Amsterdam building. They are inside a design philosophy.

who is this venue right for

@droog is the right choice if you care about the details. If you want a wedding that feels considered rather than convenient. If you are keeping the guest list tight, under 35 people, and you want the space to match that intention rather than swallow it.

It works well for couples who value design, who want a sustainable and local catering approach, and who are looking for a venue that carries its own character rather than acting as a blank backdrop. If your wedding should feel like you, not like a catalogue photo, @droog is worth a serious look.

boutique wedding venue amsterdam grachtengordel indoor outdoor ceremony 30 persons all inclusive

a boutique wedding venue in amsterdam’s grachtengordel, designed for 30 people who care about more than just a pretty room

You want a small wedding. Intimate. Intentional. Maybe 30 people who actually matter, in a place that feels like it means something. Not a hotel ballroom, not a blank-canvas warehouse. Something with character, with a story, with a view of the canal.

Amsterdam’s grachtengordel has a handful of venues that can give you that. @droog is one of them, and it might be the one that fits best if design, atmosphere, and sustainability are things you genuinely care about.

what makes @droog different as a wedding venue

@droog is not just a venue. It is rooted in Droog Design philosophy, which means every corner of the building has been thought through. The materials, the furniture, the lighting, the layout. Nothing is there by accident. When you get married here, you are not just renting a room. You are stepping into a space that has been built around the idea that design shapes how people feel and think.

The building sits on the Staalstraat, right in the heart of the grachtengordel. Outside, you have the classic Amsterdam canal houses and the Groenburgwal canal. Inside, you have a collection of spaces that range from warm and intimate to dramatic and theatrical. For a wedding of around 30 people, this scale is exactly right.

the spaces that work for an intimate ceremony and celebration

For a group of 30, you have real flexibility at @droog. The building has multiple rooms, and they can be combined or used separately depending on how you want to structure your day.

The white space is the most natural fit for a ceremony with 30 guests. It sits upstairs, with large white windows looking out onto the old Amsterdam rooftops and the garden below. In a theatre or ceremony setting it fits up to 70 people, which means 30 guests have generous room to breathe. The light in this space is exceptional, especially during the day. It has been used for PhD promotions, book launches, and small concerts, so a wedding ceremony feels completely at home here.

After the ceremony, the celebration can move. The cafe restaurant on the top floor is arguably the most beautiful space in the building. The blue butterfly lamp, the curved white tiled bar, the fireplace, and the view over the Groenburgwal canal make it feel like nowhere else in the city. It seats 70 and stands 180, so for 30 people it becomes a genuinely cosy and special dinner setting.

If you want to add an outdoor element, the garden connects directly to the ground floor spaces and gives you that rare Amsterdam combination of indoor warmth and outdoor canal-city air. Weather permitting, this is a beautiful spot for drinks between ceremony and dinner.

all inclusive, or built around what you actually need

Every wedding is different, and @droog works with you to build the day around your priorities. The venue works with trusted local suppliers for catering, flowers, and styling, which fits the ethos of the place. Local sourcing is not a marketing claim here, it is how @droog actually operates.

A typical all-inclusive package for 30 people at @droog can cover the use of the ceremony space, a reception drink in the garden or grand space, dinner in the cafe restaurant, and coordination support throughout the day. The specifics depend on what you want, and the team is there to help you figure that out.

request quote

indoor ceremony, outdoor drinks, dinner by the canal

One of the things that makes a wedding at @droog work so well for a smaller group is the natural flow between spaces. You can move through the building in a way that gives each part of the day its own atmosphere.

Ceremony in the white space upstairs, with natural light and canal house views. Drinks in the garden or in the grand space on the ground floor, which opens directly onto the garden through a large sliding door. Dinner in the cafe restaurant at the top of the building, with the canal below and the city around you.

This kind of progression is exactly what a small, intentional wedding benefits from. It gives guests a sense of journey through the day, rather than sitting in one room from start to finish.

why the grachtengordel matters for your wedding day

Location is not just a logistic. For guests traveling from outside Amsterdam, arriving in the canal ring by foot, bike, or boat is an experience in itself. The Staalstraat is one of those streets that feels genuinely Amsterdam. Narrow, historic, quiet. It sets a tone before your guests even walk through the door.

For photos, the surrounding streets and canals offer endless options without needing a separate location. The Groenburgwal canal, visible from the cafe restaurant, is widely considered one of the most photographed canals in Amsterdam. You will not need to go far.

the practical side of getting married at @droog

A few things worth knowing if you are seriously considering @droog for your wedding.

  • The venue is primarily a B2B event space, but weddings and private celebrations are absolutely welcome and have been hosted here many times before.
  • For 30 people, the library is also available as a smaller breakout or preparation room. It seats 10 around a beautiful table with flowered wallpaper based on a Rijksmuseum painting, and works well as a bridal room or a quiet space for close family.
  • The building is sustainable by design, which matters if this is something important to you and your guests.
  • Accessibility and parking in the canal ring require some planning. The team can advise on the best options for your guests.

is @droog the right fit for your wedding?

If you are looking for a large wedding venue with a dance floor for 200 people, @droog is probably not your place. But if you want something smaller, more considered, and genuinely beautiful in a city that you love, it is worth a conversation.

The venue works best for couples who care about design, who want an intimate day rather than a big production, and who want their wedding to feel like them. The building has a personality. If that personality matches yours, the day will feel effortless.

The team at @droog is happy to walk you through the spaces, talk through what an all-inclusive package could look like for your group, and help you figure out whether the venue fits your vision. No pressure, just a conversation.

intimate wedding venue amsterdam city center canal view for 30 guests

an intimate wedding venue in amsterdam city center, with canal views, for 30 guests

Finding the right venue for a small wedding in Amsterdam is not as easy as it sounds. You want something that feels special, not like a hotel ballroom rented out to whoever books first. You want character, a real sense of place, and ideally, a view that reminds you why Amsterdam is one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

If that sounds like what you are looking for, you are in the right place.

why small weddings deserve big spaces with soul

There is a growing movement toward more intimate celebrations. Fewer guests, more meaning. A wedding for 30 people is not a compromise, it is a choice. And that choice deserves a venue that matches the intention behind it.

At @droog, we understand that philosophy deeply. Our entire building is rooted in Droog Design principles, where every decision has a reason, every object has a story, and every space has been put together with purpose. That mindset translates directly into the kind of setting that makes a small wedding feel extraordinary rather than sparse.

the spaces that work beautifully for 30 guests

We have several rooms available, and the right one for your wedding depends on what kind of atmosphere you are after. Here is an honest look at your options.

the library, your most intimate option

If you are hosting a ceremony or a private dinner for up to 10 people at the core, the library is worth considering as part of your experience. It is a meeting room upstairs with beautiful yellow chairs around a long table, a flat chandelier overhead, and flowered wallpaper inspired by a painting in the Rijksmuseum. It is cosy in the best possible way. This room works best as a dinner space or a quiet moment between ceremony and celebration, rather than your main event space for 30.

the white space, the one made for your moment

For a wedding of 30 guests, the white space is likely your best match. It is located upstairs, flooded with light from large white windows that look out over the old Amsterdam houses and our garden below. It is quiet, refined, and genuinely beautiful without trying too hard.

With 30 guests seated around tables, you have space to breathe. The room fits up to 50 people seated with tables, so 30 feels comfortable and warm rather than empty. You can set it up exactly the way you want. Ceremony style, dinner style, or a mix of both as the evening moves forward.

This space has hosted book launches, PhD promotions, and small concerts. A wedding fits right in.

adding the cafe for your reception drinks

After the ceremony, the cafe is an exceptional place to continue the celebration. It sits at the top of our yellow hallway staircase and opens up into one of our most visually striking rooms. The blue butterfly lamp, a curved white tiled bar, a fireplace, and large windows overlooking the Groenburgwal canal.

That canal view is something guests consistently mention. It is genuinely one of the more beautiful spots in Amsterdam city center, and it is available for your event. The cafe fits up to 70 people seated and 180 standing, so for 30 guests it becomes an elegant, relaxed space for drinks and conversation before or after your main event.

what makes @droog different as a wedding venue

We are not a traditional wedding venue. We do not have a wedding package with a fixed menu, a coordinator in a headset, and a backdrop that has been photographed a thousand times before. What we have is something rarer.

Every space at @droog has been built or curated with design thinking at its center. Sustainability is part of how the building was constructed and how we operate. We source locally wherever possible. The materials, the furniture, the objects around you, they all carry intention.

For couples who care about where things come from and why choices are made the way they are, that matters. It adds a layer of meaning to the setting that a generic venue simply cannot offer.

combining spaces for a full wedding experience

One of the things that works particularly well for small weddings at @droog is the ability to move through different spaces across the day. You are not locked into one room.

A ceremony in the white space. Drinks with a canal view in the cafe. A seated dinner back in the white space, or split across rooms if you want to create different moods for different parts of the evening. If you want to include the grand space on the ground floor for a more open, social moment, that is possible too. It connects directly to our garden, which adds another dimension entirely when the weather is right.

Events at @droog are rarely confined to a single room. That flexibility is part of what makes the space work so well for experiences that need to feel layered and personal.

practical things worth knowing

A few things that come up often when people are considering @droog for a small wedding.

  • The white space has a beamer available, useful if you want to share photos or run any kind of visual presentation during the evening.
  • The cafe restaurant is open to the public daily for lunch and coffee, which means it is a living, working space, not a dusty event room waiting to be filled. When you book it for your event, you are getting a space with real energy.
  • Our garden is adjacent to the grand space and can be part of your event depending on the season and setup.
  • We are located in Amsterdam city center, easily reachable by public transport, and close to several hotels for guests who are traveling.

is @droog the right fit for your wedding?

If you are planning a wedding for around 30 guests and you want a venue that has genuine character, a canal view, sustainable values, and the flexibility to make the day feel like yours, then yes, @droog is worth a serious look.

We are not for everyone. If you are looking for a ballroom with a dance floor and a DJ booth, there are better options in the city. But if you want a space that feels considered, that has a point of view, and that will give your guests something to talk about beyond the flowers and the food, this is the kind of place that delivers that.

Small weddings deserve spaces that take them seriously. That is what we offer.

unique venue for any type of event

a unique venue for any type of event, rooted in design

Finding the right venue is one of the most important decisions you make when planning an event. Not just because of the logistics, but because the space itself shapes how people feel, think, and connect. At @droog in Amsterdam, we believe a venue should do more than hold people. It should inspire them.

That is exactly what we set out to create. A place where design thinking, purpose-driven work, and sustainability come together, so your event leaves a lasting impression.

why the space you choose matters more than you think

Most people focus on capacity and catering when choosing a venue. Those things matter, of course. But the atmosphere, the story behind a space, and the way rooms flow into each other, those are the things guests actually remember.

@droog is built on Droog Design principles. That means every room, every chair, every detail has been chosen with intention. When your guests walk through the door, they immediately sense they are somewhere different. Somewhere that takes design seriously. And that energy carries into your event.

five spaces, one building, endless possibilities

What makes @droog genuinely unique is that no two spaces look or feel the same. Each room has its own personality, and together they give you the flexibility to host almost any type of event imaginable.

The grand space sits on the ground floor and can hold up to 90 people seated or 160 standing. With a giant sliding door that opens to the garden, it is one of the most versatile spaces in the building. Conferences, panel discussions, networking drinks, pop-up stores, or a full-on party, it handles all of it with ease. The space includes a stage, a beamer, and a sound system, so you are well equipped from the start.

Right next to it, accessible through the grand space or garden, you will find the red space. This is our theatre room. Think bold reds, pinks, oranges, and purples. A round U-shaped tribune with movable cushions seats up to 80 people shoulder to shoulder, though 50 to 60 gives everyone a bit more breathing room. It comes fully equipped for professional shows, presentations, and performances. There is nothing quite like it in Amsterdam.

Head upstairs and you will discover three more spaces, each with its own character. The white space is a bright, airy room with large white windows overlooking the old Amsterdam houses and the garden below. It seats up to 70 in theatre setting or 50 with tables, making it ideal for trainings, meetings, book launches, or even a small concert. It also has a beamer and adapts well to different layouts.

The library is a more intimate setting. Flowered wallpaper based on a Rijksmuseum painting, yellow chairs around a long table, a flat chandelier, and windows looking out onto the garden. It fits up to 10 people and works beautifully for focused meetings or private dinners. Small in size, but big in atmosphere.

And then there is the cafe restaurant at the top of our yellow hallway staircase. Arguably our most beautiful space. The blue butterfly lamp, the inside-out cafe concept, a fireplace, curved white tiled bar and kitchen, and a view over the Groenburgwal canal. It fits up to 180 standing or 70 seated, depending on the setup. Open to the public daily for lunch and coffee, it transforms easily into an event space for any occasion.

request quote

one event, multiple spaces

Your event does not need to live in a single room. In fact, some of the best events at @droog use two, three, or even more of our spaces in combination. A keynote in the grand space, breakout sessions in the white space, dinner in the cafe restaurant, and drinks in the garden. The building is designed to flow, so moving between spaces feels natural rather than disruptive.

This flexibility is what makes @droog a unique venue for any type of event. Symposiums, live-stream recordings, product launches, training days, strategy sessions, PhD promotions, weddings, celebrations, and more. Whatever your brief, we can build a setup around it.

sustainability and local thinking built into everything

We do not just talk about sustainability. It is embedded in how the building was designed and how we operate. Local sourcing, responsible materials, and thoughtful construction choices are all part of what @droog stands for. When you host your event here, you are also making a statement about the values your organisation holds.

That alignment between purpose and place is something guests notice. It adds a layer of meaning to your event that a standard hotel conference room simply cannot provide.

design thinking as your event backdrop

There is a reason companies come to @droog when they want to do something different. The environment itself encourages fresh thinking. When people are surrounded by intentional design rather than generic furniture and beige walls, they engage differently. Conversations go deeper. Ideas come more freely. The space does some of the heavy lifting for you.

That is the philosophy behind everything we do. Not to be a backdrop, but to be a catalyst.

practical things worth knowing

Each space comes with its own technical setup. Sound systems, beamers, and staging where relevant. Our team is on hand to help you figure out the right configuration for your event, whether you are hosting 10 people for a private dinner or 160 for a standing reception.

We work with a range of catering options and can connect you with partners who understand our space and our values. And because our building is centrally located in Amsterdam, your guests can arrive by bike, tram, or boat, which feels fitting for a place like this.

ready to find the right space for your event?

Whether you have a clear vision or are still figuring out the format, we are happy to think along with you. Tell us what you are planning, how many people you expect, and what kind of experience you want to create. From there, we can suggest the right combination of spaces and help you build something worth attending.

lgbtq+ friendly venue in amsterdam

an lgbtq+ friendly venue in amsterdam that actually gets it

Finding a venue in Amsterdam that truly welcomes everyone, not just on paper but in practice, can feel harder than it should. You want a space where your guests feel comfortable the moment they walk in. Where the atmosphere is open, the team is warm, and the environment reflects the values your event stands for.

That is exactly what @droog is. A design-driven venue in the heart of Amsterdam where inclusion is not a policy, it is part of the culture.

why @droog works for lgbtq+ events

@droog is rooted in Droog Design philosophy. That means every choice, every room, every detail is intentional. We do not do things by default. We do them with purpose. And part of that purpose is creating a space where all people are seen, welcomed, and respected.

Our team approaches every event with the same mindset: what does this group need to feel at ease and inspired? Whether you are organizing a Pride networking evening, an LGBTQ+ conference, a community celebration, or a corporate inclusion workshop, the space and the people in it will support your vision.

Amsterdam has long been a city that celebrates openness. @droog fits right into that story. We are located in a beautiful historic building on the Staalstraat, surrounded by the canals and the energy of a city that has always made room for everyone.

spaces that give your event room to breathe

One of the things that makes @droog stand out as an LGBTQ+ friendly venue in Amsterdam is the variety of spaces available. Every room has its own character, and together they can host events of almost any format or size.

The grand space is on the ground floor and can hold up to 90 people seated or 160 standing. It has a stage, a beamer, and a sound system, and it opens directly onto our garden. This is a great space for panel discussions, keynote talks, networking drinks, or a full evening celebration. The sliding doors connect it to the garden and to the red space, making it easy to expand when your event grows.

The red space is one of our most distinctive rooms. It is fully themed in deep reds, pinks, oranges, and purples, and it has a round u-shaped tribune that seats up to 80 people. It was built as a theatre space, with all the technical equipment you would expect. Think of it as a stage for stories. Perfect for performances, film screenings, live shows, or any format where the audience and the presenter share something meaningful together.

Upstairs, the white space offers a lighter, more airy setting. Large white windows look out over the Amsterdam rooftops and our garden below. This room fits up to 70 people in a theatre setup or 50 seated at tables, and it works beautifully for training sessions, workshops, book launches, or intimate celebrations like a wedding or a PhD defence ceremony.

The library is our smaller meeting room, also upstairs. It has floral wallpaper based on a painting from the Rijksmuseum, yellow chairs around a long table, and a chandelier that sets the mood immediately. It seats up to 10 people and is often used for private dinners, small strategy sessions, or intimate roundtable conversations. This room has a personality all its own.

And then there is the cafe. At the top of our yellow staircase, you will find our cafe restaurant with a view over the Groenburgwal canal. It is tall, bright, and layered with design details, from the blue butterfly lamp to the curved white tiled bar and a fireplace. It holds up to 180 people standing and 70 seated. It is our most design-rich space, and it opens to the public every day, which means it carries an energy that is already social and welcoming before your event even begins.

mixing spaces for bigger events

Events do not have to stay in one room. If you need more space, we simply open more of the building. Breakout sessions, dinners across floors, live-stream setups, workshops running in parallel, all of it is possible. @droog works well for events that have multiple layers: a main programme in one space, a dinner in another, and drinks in the garden to close the evening.

For LGBTQ+ community events, this kind of flexibility matters. You might want a keynote moment in the red space, a more personal conversation in the library, and a celebration in the cafe or grand space afterwards. We can help you build that flow.

design as a form of respect

At @droog, we believe that the environment you create for people sends a message before anyone has said a word. When you choose a venue that is thoughtful in its design, local in its sourcing, and deliberate in its values, you are already telling your guests that they matter.

Sustainability is also a core part of how we operate. The building has been constructed and curated with environmental responsibility in mind. Nearly everything inside has been selected with intention. That same care extends to how we work with the people and communities that come through our doors.

We are not trying to be everything to everyone. But we are committed to being a space where people from all backgrounds, identities, and communities feel genuinely at home.
