Contact Tables by Shared Emotions

Shared Emotions
Contact Tables, 2016

Each table is equipped with a touch-sensitive surface that allows users to draw or write messages with their fingers. These gestures are instantly transmitted to the paired table in another location, where they appear in real time. Through this simple yet poetic interaction, the tables enable two people to share a moment of presence despite being physically apart. The act of drawing becomes a substitute for touch, creating a subtle and personal form of communication that goes beyond text or voice.

Rather than focusing on efficiency or productivity, the design emphasises emotional experience. The integration of LED-based technology within a minimal, furniture-like form ensures that the digital interface remains intuitive and unobtrusive.

The Contact Tables highlight the evolving role of design in an increasingly connected world. By merging physical space with digital interaction, they propose an alternative way of maintaining closeness — one that is quiet, tactile, and deeply human.
