Dry Tech III by Droog Design
Dry Tech III Exhibition at Droog Amsterdam, 2007
Droog and the Delft University of Technology joined forces for the third edition of progressive designs in Dry Tech. The result of this cooperation was exhibited at Droog in Amsterdam. Ten years ago, Droog started the project Dry Tech together with the Delft University of Technology, the faculty of Aerospace Engineering. The Knotted Chair by Marcel Wanders is one of the best-known designs from the first edition of this project.
Spacer Chair by Studio Samira Boon and Next Architechts
Constructed from a soft, open mesh (3‑dimensional spacer) fabric, ingeniously folded and then hardened with resin to form a spacious stool, the Spacer Chair, designed in 2007 by Studio Samira Boon in collaboration with NEXT Architects for Droog Design’s Dry Tech 3 initiative, is an inventive fusion of textile and structural innovation
Woven Waffle Screen by Studio Samira Boon and Next Architechts
Crafted using advanced weaving techniques to create a soft, three-dimensional waffle weave fabric with a thickness of about 10 cm, effectively merging structure and surface into one integrated form.
The Seam Chair by Dutch designer Chris Kabel is a boundary‑pushing example of minimalist, sustainable design, crafted from a tailored “bag” of woven polypropylene, as the material is sewn into chair form and filled with sand.
The third edition of Dry Tech once again brings together engineers from Delft University of Technology and industry professionals with a creative team of designers and architects. This collaboration pushes the boundaries of innovation, merging cutting-edge materials with imaginative design. The resulting proposals challenge the limits of possibility and open the door to unexpected applications.
Dry Tech is a joint initiative by Droog and the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering at Delft University of Technology, supported by funding from the BKVB Foundation.
