Fun-for-dogs Trolley by Ed Annink

Ed Annink
Fun-For-Dogs Trolley, 2010
Lot: #2967/ #2968/ #2956 (14 dog baskets)

Dog basket + steel frame, wheels, leather straps

Ed Annink gave new life to a lot of dog baskets by turning them into cheerful trolleys for tired, elderly, or simply pampered pups. Designed to roll along with ease, the trolley lets dogs enjoy the ride instead of the chase: a small act of kindness wrapped in clever design. Fun for Dogs Trolley celebrates companionship, mobility, and the joy of going everywhere together. Roll one behind you and let him watch the rabbits. Arf!

Droog bought 5,135 leftover items from Dutch liquidation auctions: everything from handkerchiefs and dog baskets to mirrors and salt shakers. They invited 14 designers to “revive” the lots into a collection of 19 products, each sold in editions limited by the size of the lot, and launched the result during Salone del Mobile, Milan, 2010.

The concept was accompanied by a short manifesto (about re-directing creative energy and redesigning lifecycles) and a charming “new owner” photo campaign that documented each purchaser right after checkout.
