At first glance, Do Swing appears to be an unusual ceiling lamp. Its stainless-steel frame supports two lampshades, but the curved structure is also strong enough to be held, pulled and swung from.

Designed by Thomas Bernstrand, the piece brings together domestic lighting and the physical movement of a playground swing. As the lamp moves, the light shifts across the room, turning illumination into something active and unpredictable. More adventurous users can grip the frame and use it as an indoor swing, changing an everyday fixture into a playful bodily experience.

Bernstrand first developed the idea as a graduation project at Konstfack in 1999. It was later presented by Droog Design in 2000 as part of Do Create, a project centred on objects that could only reveal their full character through use. With Do Swing, participation does not change the object permanently; instead, movement brings its second function to life.
