Oranienbaumer Viereck gave the town of Oranienbaum its own playful food speciality. Its square shape was inspired by the wooden containers used for the orange trees at the local castle. Wanders turned this form into a baking tin, inviting local bakers to create their own versions of the bread.

The same shape appeared as a cardboard box for biscuits. After the biscuits were eaten, the box could be filled with soil and seeds and used as a small greenhouse. The design brought together local history, food and reusable packaging in one simple idea.

Wanders’ design was part of the Couleur Locale project: Droog Design for Oranienbaum.
